About Raindrop Therapy (Aroma Therapy) Massage

Raindrop Technique® is an exciting treatment that blends two types of relaxing massage with aromatherapy using high-quality essential oils.  The components of Raindrop Therapy are:

• Traditional Swedish massage: This is the classic massage technique known for relaxation and pampering.
• Vita-Flex Technique: This is a form of reflexive massage known as "vitality through the reflexes."  With this technique, the therapist uses a light rolling and releasing motion to stimulate reflex points on the feet, hands and various areas throughout the entire body.
• Application of essential oils: An oil is considered "essential" because it is the oil of the plant from which it was extracted and retains the scent or "essence" of the plant.

The combination of these techniques were developed by D. Gary Young, founder and president of Young Living Essential Oils.  In this technique, oils are applied in an upsweeping feathering motion along the spine, back and with Vita-Flex techniques to the bottoms of the feet.  Heat is then applied to deepen the absorption of the oils.  The nine Young Living Therapeutic Grade essential oils used for Raindrop Technique are two therapeutic blends and seven single oils:

• "Valor" - a blend of spruce, rosewood, blue tansy and frankincense in a base of almond oil.
• "Aroma Siez" - a blend of basil, marjoram, lavender, peppermint and cypress.
• Oregano
• Thyme
• Basil
• Wintergreen
• Cypress
• Marjoram
• Peppermint

These oils are applied during various stages of the treatment often along the spine in a "raindrop" technique where the oils are applied by individual drops along the spine or other parts of the body.
